Summary of Position

The Instructor is responsible for teaching assigned classes in accordance with Berlitz instruction principles, for maintaining student class records and fulfilling administrative duties as required or requested by the LMI, and for participating in professional development activities.

In liaison with the LMI, the instructor is responsible for counseling students, providing effective feedback and advice, recommending appropriate products and services to meet customers’ needs, and for designing and/or delivering programs in accordance with their enhanced product knowledge.

Essential Job Functions:

• Deliver lessons in accordance with Berlitz teaching principles and focused on the interests and needs of the students
• To work with private students and groups of differing sizes at the LC and at offsite locations
• Integrate learning technology into teaching programs as required by the curriculum or requested by the student
• Keep student records and profile cards up to date as required or requested.
• Fulfill ongoing responsibilities to customers as required by the Berlitz Learning Cycle
• Assess existing and prospective customers’ level of proficiency, deliver counseling sessions to students in liaison with the LMI, recommend improvements to the students’ programs and assist the LMI where necessary in delivering specialized programs for customers
• Maintain an impeccable customer focus in the delivery of all duties
• Help promote LC activities to customers
• Actively participate in own professional self-development plan, directed and supported by the LMI
• Actively participate in own performance evaluation plan, directed and supported by the LMI
• Adopt and put into practice leadership and communication skills
• Actively participate in initiative designed to impact at least one strategic objective
• Practice the Five Berlitz Operating Principles as a guide to professional behavior and develop professional relationships with LC staff and customers
• Maintain center resource materials

 Qualifications/Related Experience

• Native or near native proficiency in Turkish
• Excellent communication / interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
• Successful completion of the Berlitz Instructor Training core modules, and also a minimum of 500 teaching units within a 3-month developmental/probational period
• Successful completion of further Berlitz Instructor Training modules, assignments and Berlitz product knowledge test
• Achieve a ‘good,’ or better performance rating in a lesson observation
• College/University degree and/or relevant work experience
• Teaching qualifications desired, but not essential
• Available evenings and weekends
• Willing to travel to offsite locations as needed
